Hello fellow Cuddle fabric lovers! I'm Amy Smart and I write a blog virtually my sewing and quilting adventures at Diary of a Quilter. Today I'grand going to share with yous a uncomplicated project to make a sweetness receiving blanket using regular cotton fabric and some baby soft Cuddle fabric.

Fabric requirements:

  • i 1/four yards cotton cloth (I prewash for this projection)
  • vii/8 chiliad of Cuddle cloth - I used Cuddle Dimple in Aqua from the Kozy Cuddle Solids Collection (you will get 2 panels out of this piece)

Tools needed:

1. Cut cotton fiber fabric into a 40" x 40" square and Cuddle fabric into a 30" 10 thirty" square. Fold your squares diagonally to make sure they are truly square pieces.(If your yardage is not quite wide enough, you tin can cut your squares smaller, but go on the cotton wool 10" bigger than the Cuddle textile.)

2. Place your Caress fabric, right sides together and centered in the center of your cotton foursquare.

three. Find the centre of one side of your Cuddle cloth and one side of your cotton cloth. Pivot at the center and and then pivot edges of Cuddle fabric to the edges of the cotton. Don't pivot all the manner to the corners of the Cuddle fabric - leave nigh 1 inch on either end un-pinned.

6. Stitch all 4 edges together using a 1/4" seam allowance. On one side, leave an 8" opening for turning blanket right-sides-out. I highly suggest using a walking-foot if you lot have one to avoid any stretching or puckering.

As you lot are sewing each side, pull the adjacent side out of the way and sew together seam until you become to the marked 1/iv" dot. When y'all get to the quarter inch dot lift the needle and turn the coating. Pull the side of the cotton fabric y'all simply sewed away and offset sewing the new side of cotton fabric to the Caress fabric beginning at the 1/iv" dot.

7. To brand mitered corners pull the Cuddle fabric away from the cotton fiber textile. Start with ane corner and pull the corner 'flap' taught, matching up raw edges to create a triangle. Fold the Cuddle fabric in half diagonally on itself, matching upward intersecting seams for that corner. This should create a 45 caste angle next to the triangle 'flap.' Line up a ruler with the folded edge of the Cuddle fabric and mark a line.

I'd suggest putting a pivot in to concord everything together while you accept it to your machine.

xi.  Meridian stitch all the way effectually the outside of the Cuddle fabric, at the aforementioned fourth dimension closing the opening used for turning.  Tiptop stitch effectually the exterior blanket edge to give it a crisp end. I also cull to draw a 12" foursquare in the eye of the Cuddle material with an eraseable pen and top stitch on that line likewise to go on the centre portion of the quilt from shifting when information technology'south washed.
